Our Philosophy and Treatment Policy

Our Philosophy and Treatment

Greetings

At Yasumoto IVR Clinic, we practice multidisciplinary treatment centered on interventional radiology (IVR), integrating cancer treatment, local therapies such as RFA, catheter-based treatments such as embolization, intra-arterial infusion therapy, and perfusion therapy, and diagnostic imaging.
In recent years, a growing number of patients gather information on their own and are referred to us seeking a specific treatment. Even in such cases, we give the highest priority to an accurate assessment of the disease state based on diagnostic imaging, and we carefully determine whether treatment is indicated.

Our Treatment Concept

At our clinic, our purpose is not simply to perform treatment. Instead, we focus on the following points:

  • Whether IVR treatment is truly appropriate for the individual patient
  • How the treatment relates to standard treatment
  • What additional benefit can be expected from local therapy

We carefully evaluate these points when determining the indications for treatment.
In particular, for:

  • Cases judged difficult to treat at other hospitals
  • Cases where standard treatment alone has its limits
  • Cases where enhanced local control may lead to improved prognosis or quality of life (QOL)

we offer proposals that make full use of our expertise in diagnostic imaging and IVR.

Positioning in Relation to Standard Treatment

IVR is only one element of an overall treatment strategy. We determine its indications while clarifying its position and role, taking into account the significance of standard treatments such as surgery, drug therapy, and radiation therapy, and based on a thorough understanding of the relevant guidelines and evidence.

Specialized Treatment Centered on IVR

Our clinic aims to play a part in the range of treatment options available in clinical practice, with minimally invasive image-guided therapy at its core.
We accept consultations for cases such as the following.

  • Treatment of various malignant tumors refractory to standard treatment
  • RFA and TAE for lung tumors, liver tumors, renal tumors, adrenal tumors, and others
  • IVR for multiple lung metastases and multiple liver metastases
  • Local treatment for lymph node metastasis, bone metastasis, and distant metastasis
  • Treatment of recurrent cancer (recurrent breast cancer, recurrence after radiation therapy, various other recurrent cancers, etc.)
  • Perfusion therapy for peritoneal dissemination
  • Perfusion therapy for pancreatic cancer and bile duct cancer
  • Catheter treatment and perfusion therapy (NIPP) for bladder cancer, uterine cancer, and pelvic tumors
  • Percutaneous drainage
  • Biliary drainage and stent placement
  • IVR for pain relief
  • Gold fiducial marker placement for prostate tumor
  • Catheter treatment (PAE) for benign prostatic hyperplasia
  • Embolization (UAE) for uterine fibroids
  • Various biopsy procedures
  • Other image-based treatment consultations, including assessment of whether IVR is indicated

Patient-Centered Treatment Strategies Based on Individuality

After comprehensively evaluating each patient's condition, the location and extent of the tumor, the response to previous treatments, and the patient's general condition, our basic policy is to consider the possibilities of local treatment optimized for each individual patient and to provide it in an appropriate form.
We look not only at the treatment itself, but also at each patient's life circumstances, past treatment history, continuity of care, and cooperation with other medical institutions, providing care from a comprehensive perspective. We listen carefully to our patients' wishes and strive every day to pursue patient-centered treatment strategies.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

Our Position in Medical Collaboration
and Basic Approach

We place importance on a circulating model of medical collaboration based on referrals and counter-referrals, aiming to realize the best possible care environment for each patient.
Even when a patient visits us at their own request for treatment, we take responsibility for judging whether treatment is indicated. After performing the necessary local treatment or IVR, our basic policy is to return the patient, as a rule, to the care of their attending physician for subsequent management.
Our approach is not to keep every aspect of care within our clinic, but to respect the attending physician's treatment policy and overall patient management, and to take charge of the part where we can be of help.

Referral Process

  1. The attending physician contacts us via the inquiry form or by other means
  2. Images and a referral letter are sent as needed
  3. We evaluate the images and determine whether treatment is indicated
  4. Outpatient consultation and explanation of the treatment plan
  5. The necessary treatment is performed
  6. After treatment, we report the patient's progress to the attending physician

In some cases, we may conclude that treatment is not indicated. Even in such cases, we examine the case carefully from the standpoint of diagnostic imaging and share our findings and perspective as needed.

Inquiries

For case consultations, referrals, and confirmation of treatment indications, please contact us via the inquiry form for healthcare professionals.
Sharing images and clinical information with us enables a more concrete evaluation.
We will respond as promptly as possible, depending on the urgency and nature of the inquiry.

In Closing

As an extension of the daily practice of attending physicians, our clinic places importance on playing a role in situations that call for expertise in local treatment and IVR.
To realize the best treatment strategy for each patient, we work closely with attending physicians and provide optimal interventions tailored to each patient's condition.
As a facility specializing in IVR, we will continue to contribute to community and specialized medical care through clinical collaboration.
We welcome consultations regarding indications and treatment policies at any time.
